The difference between an 'article' and 'short story' can be very subjective, as can be seen from some of the titles listed in this collection, e.g. The Tom Brown Question. Some articles are also poems, e.g. Damon and Pythias. Two titles appearing in Punch magazine, Our Man in America and America Day by Day, were long running columns, not individual articles. And what about 'essays'? Confusing, isn't it?
| Biography | From one of the many biographies of PG. |
| Book | Appears in one of the following: The Uncollected Wodehouse, Tales of St Austin's, Plum Pie, or Louder and Funnier or an anthology. |
| Bookseller | Sales information on various web sites found during searches. The information is only available while the item is on sale so there is little point in providing a link - apologies to the sellers concerned. |
| eBay | Sales information on one or more of that company's sites - I have not attempted to list the many sellers, some of whom are private individuals. |
| Eulalie | From www.madameulalie.org. The site is small but growing. Articles are from original magazines and checked through McIlvain (I am informed). Please see note below on copyright. |
| Gutenberg | US Copyright renewals data published on the Project Gutenberg web site - thanks to all concerned. |
| PG | Mentioned by Wodehouse in a book, article etc. |
| Russian WS | Information from the web site of the Russian Wodehouse Society. [I don't agree with all the information on this site, but it's worth a visit.] |
| Web search | Found while looking for something else or just whatever came into my head. Sometimes it works! |
| Web text | Published on the web by Gutenberg and others (and some on commercial CDs). These appear to originate from 'Dagny and the Blandings Group' [no connection] who attribute them to Punch magazine. Regrettably, they have not quoted the issue dates. The titles of some can be confirmed from other sources so these are probably genuine but I can't confirm that. Please see note below on copyright. |
| Weiss | From the on-line list of contents of the Jay Weiss collection of P G Wodehouse material at Harvard College Library. Note that, with many other compiled lists, this one contains some errors through mistyping etc., so cannot be fully relied on. |
Copyright: Please note that articles by Wodehouse are still under copyright protection in some countries whatever a web site might say (they usually refer to US law). It is your responsibility to know how the law affects you in your country.
