Joy in the Morning

A Jeeves & Wooster novel

What trouble could Bertie get into in rural Steeple Bumpleigh?

On the credit side, his old friends Nobby Hopwood and Boko are in residence, there's a stream for Jeeves to fish in, a fancy dress ball to be held nearby and Aunt Agatha is away. On the debit side, ex-fiancée Florence Craye lives there, a jealous Stilton Cheesewright is the local copper and Edwin the Boy-scout is behind on his good deeds again. Then there's the gunpowder, a missing brooch, brown paper and treacle, and a whack on the head.

After that, Bertie's problems really start.

A favourite of many Wodehouse fans and for good reason. It has a plot with more twists and turns than the road to Steeple Bumpleigh, told in his usual style and leading to a denouement that's as near perfect as any he devised.
