Money in the Bank

A novel

Lord Uffenham has let the family home having converted his fortune into diamonds then forgotten where he hid them. Failed barrister Jeff Miller falls for Anne, Lord U's niece, and turns up under a false name. When Chimp Twist joins Dolly and Soapy Molloy in the hunt for the diamonds, there's bound to be some oompus-boompus.

Horizontal blue bar

An eccentric peer, a formidable woman, love at first sight and an impostor - familiar ingredients for a classic recipe.

Warning. Lord U. reappears in Something Fishy; that's the good news. The bad news is that that book gives away much of the plot of this one. If you intend to read both, and you should, read this one first.

* Why mention this edition? It's the only one I know which was published in Europe before the UK edition, probably a result of it being written while PG was interned and the affair of the Berlin broadcasts. I understand it's in English.
