Sunset at Blandings

Unfinished novel

This book consists of sixteen chapters of Wodehouse's last planned novel, plus notes. There is no ending and the first part was still to be revised with most of the familiar Wodehouse touches still missing. Also included are some of PG's notes, plus articles on the layout of Blandings and train timetables. The title is not Wodehouse's but was supplied by the publishers.

With so much unfinished, it's hard to admit this to the Blandings' canon. The book as published has interest for serious fans and aspiring authors, showing how Wodehouse worked so hard to get a plot right.

Incidentally, if PG stuck to his notes for this book then Lord Emsworth had no less than 10 sisters and two brothers, a family of 13 siblings in all! It sounds a lot but then my grandmother was one of 13.
