Bill Oakshott arrives home from the Amazon to find a welcoming committee, complete with Silver Band, and the girl he loves engaged to Pongo Twistleton. Pongo and the girl he should be with, Sally Painter, have fallen out, and Sally is worried that her brother is about to be ruined by Bill's uncle.
Fortunately Lord Ickenham is on the case and there's nothing that Uncle Dynamite likes more than spreading sweetness and light. Unless it's insinuating himself into someone else's house under a false name ...
