1. The original libretto by Bolton and PG involved a shipwreck. Unfortunately, a real sea disaster with substantial loss of life occurred before rehearsals so plot changes became essential. Exactly how Lindsay and Crouse got the job, their first together, depends on who's account you read; what is clear is that they did a good job for the show was a great hit. PG is recorded as being content, especially as he and Bolton retained their royalties as contracted. L & C went on to become one of the most successful writing teams including the stage version of The Sound of Music.

2. PG might have contributed lyrics to the London version, specifically to the title song to keep it topical.

3. The working title for this show was Hard to Get.
