Good Morning, Bill

A play

By Ladislau Fodor, adapted by P. G. Wodehouse.

First produced in London on 28 November, 1927 at the Duke of York's Theatre.
It was revived in 1934.

Synopsis

The plot is much the same as that in the book Doctor Sally that it later became. The main differences are that: the initial meeting on the golf course is omitted (for obvious staging reasons); Bill is a Paradene, not a Bannister; Lottie and Lord Tidmouth meet as strangers; and there is an extra scene between Lottie and Sally.

The play origins of the book are evident, even without a direct comparison. Nevertheless, it is interesting to put the two side by side. Of the two, I think the book version has the edge with all the characters coming out sympathetically.
