Sergeant Brue
A musical
| Book: | Owen Hall
|
| Lyrics: | J. Hickory Wood
|
| Music: | Liza Lehmann and Frederick Rosse *
|
Wodehouse's contribution was one interpolated (added in) lyric Put Me in My Little Cell with music by Rosse.
First produced 10 December 1904 at the Strand Theatre, London (280 performances).
Also produced 24 April 1905 at the Knickerbocker Theatre, New York.

* Rosse is also sometimes credited as the musical director with Lehmann as sole composer. Rosse might have composed for the interpolations - PG's was not the only one. According to the British Musical Theatre web site, the producer's use of interpolations rather than asking Ms Lehmann for more lyrics when she was willing to provide them led Ms Lehmann to quit writing for the musical stage.
