Don't Listen Ladies

A play

Adapted by P. G. Wodehouse (as Stephen Powys) and Guy Bolton, based on the play N'écoutez pas, mesdames by Sacha Guitry (15 performances).

First produced 28 December 1948 at the Booth Theatre, New York.
Also produced in London.

Synopsis

A husband and wife suspect each other of infidelity but despite the involvement of an ex-wife, a former mistress and others, nothing is proven and they live on together. [Much reduced from a contemporary and unfavourable review.]

This bombed in the US but did well in London and is still performed in regional and amateur theatre.

The name Stephen Powys was also used as a pseudonym by Guy Bolton. PG probably used it here as he was still in dispute with the US tax authorities.
