Although I used lists published by others as a starting point for my lists, I have independently verified all entries through on-line sales and catalogue lists. Where I could not verify a title as having been published, I have omitted it. Verification of the book identity involved one or more of direct translation, plot description and the plain obvious (what could the Italian 'Jim di Piccadilly' be but 'Piccadilly Jim'?). As I have not seen any of the books in the paper, as it were, I do not know whether translated books are from the UK or US versions.
